You couldn't ask for better weather on a perfect morning for the 6ABC Dunkin' Donuts Thanksgiving Day Parade in Philadelphia. Thousands lined the streets of Center City and the Parkway to the Art Musuem to see the balloons, floats, marching bands, celebrities, and of course Santa Claus. People started bringing their chairs and finding the best spot along the route well before the 9 a.m. official start of the parade. Performers and volunteers started their preparations in the wee hours of the morning getting dressed, inflating balloons, and getting ready for the 3 hour parade. Philadelphia has the oldest and longest running Thanksgiving Day parade in the country. Started 93 years ago in 1920 by Gimbels department store, the parade attracts people from all over the east coast, and is syndicated on television across the country. Some of the celebrities making appearances include Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard, Charlie McDermott from the sitcom "The Middle" and Kristen Alderson from "General Hospital”, and Bianca Ryan from “America's Got Talent.”

The Comcast Center's Holiday Display is now up and running in the lobby at 17th and JFK Boulevard. The 5th annual “Comcast Holiday Spectacular” includes familiar favorites like scenes from The Nutcracker, performed by the Pennsylvania Ballet, a sleigh ride through snow-covered country, and sounds from a 64-piece orchestra. The video wall is 83' x 25' and is five times the resolution of HDTV. The show runs 15 minutes at the top of every hour, 10 a.m. through 8 p.m. – except weekdays at 5:00 p.m. – through New Year’s Day.

The 2012 annual Christmas Village of Philadelphia presented by OneMain Financial officially open Thanksgiving morning in LOVE Park in Center City. This is the second straight year that the Christmas Village has been staged in LOVE Park (JFK Plaza), as Dilworth Plaz next to City Hall is under construction. The village is modeled after a traditional German Christmas Market featuring feature more than 60 vendors in festive wooden decorated booths and two large tents. You can find holiday gifts, ornaments, jewelry, high-quality arts and crafts as well as European and American food, drinks and sweets. Adding to the atmosphere will be daily musical performances, thousands of lights, and the Philadelphia City Christmas Tree. More information at www.philachristmas.com. On Nov. 23 until Dec. 23, the Christmas Village will be open 11 AM-7 PM (Sunday through Thursday) and 11 AM-8 PM (Friday and Saturday). The Christmas Village will be open on Christmas Eve from 11 AM to 5 PM.
