Kidnapped Baby Found Dead, Hurricane Sandy Preparations, NHL Cancels November
  by: iradiotom - Philadelphia, PA
started: 10/26/12 9:15 pm | updated: 10/26/12 9:15 pm
The missing 10 month old baby, Saanvi Venna, has been found dead and a suspect has been charged with the murder of the infant and her grandmother. The baby was apparently smothered and stuffed into a suitcase. Her body was found in the basement of the Marquis Apartments. Ransom notes were found at the apartment demanding $50,000. The suspect, Ragunandan Yandamuri, n is described as a friend and neighbor of the Venna family who helped hang posters during the search and even attended the candlelight vigil this week.

As Hurricane Sandy approaches, Pennsylvania Governor Corbett is encouraging residents to prepare for a potentially dangerous storm. The Category 1 hurricane is still projected to stay on track to impact the Philadelphia area and could make landfall in the Delaware Bay. Top wind speeds are at 80 miles per hour. Sandy is expected to produce heavy rain and high winds early next week if the current track holds.

The American Red Cross is preparing for Hurricane Sandy's arrival. Water, food, cots and other necessities are being gathered at the center city headquarters. If necessary, the Southeastern Pennsylvania Red Cross is prepared to care for 26,000 people. They have the ability to open shelters quickly and are urging people to download their free smartphone app to know when and where shelters are open.

Today, the NHL cancelled all games through the end of November.

Cloudy tonight. 55 in Philadelphia.
