NFL Referee Lockout is Over; NFL and NFLRA agree on deal.

After 3 weeks of utilizing replacement referees to less than savory results, the NFL and the Referee union has agreed upon a deal that will end the lockout. For the immediate future a crew is being assembled to work at the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens game on Thursday night football. The rest of the crews will received their assignments in Dallas on Friday. There will be a clinic held at that time with the crews heading to game site on Saturday for Sunday's match ups,

Some keys points in the agreement. The refs will receive a 4% raise and get 12 guaranteed game checks this year, 19 next year. The games missed because of the lockout this year will be compensated by a shared $2.5 million fund. One of the main sticking points in the negotiations was the pension plan. That will remain as currently defined before switching to a 401(k) plan in five years. When the officials meet on Friday they will vote on the agreed upon plan with half needing to approve for it to pass, which is expected. *
