A chocolate lab named "Mugsy" was struck and killed late Saturday night on West Chester Pike in East Goshen Township, Chester County. The dog's owner, Pam Ardell, says that he had escaped from a yard of a nearby home they were visiting. Someone must have picked him up and brought him in to their car. Eyewitnesses say that they saw the dog being thrown from the car as it was driving along West Chester Pike. The vehicle is described as a small red sedan. The Ardell describe Mugsy as one of the nicest, docile, and gentle dogs you'd meet. Anyone with information is asked to contact Westtown-East Goshen Police at 610-692-5100.

John Leck Jr. of Levittown appeared in court today for a preliminary hearing in the death of Officer Brian Lorenzo. Leck was driving the wrong way on I-95 when his car collided with Ofc. Lorenzo's motorcycle back in July. Leck's blood alcohol content was .218, over 2 ½ times the limit. Leck appeared in court still heavily medicated from his injuries sustained in the crash, with pins in his arms and a leg brace. Leck is charged with third-degree murder, homicide by vehicle, driving under the influence, aggravated assault and involuntary manslaughter. He will be held for trial with a formal arraignment on October 17th.

Tonight, a chance of isolated thunderstorms and a few showers with temperatures in the mid 60's this evening in Philadelphia.
