Rafael Jones has officially been charged with murder, robbery, and related offenses in the August 18th killing of off duty Police Officer Moses Walker Jr. Jones confessed to being part of the two person team that was caught on surveillance camera during the crime. He has a violent criminal past and was only recently released from prison after a probation violation. Police are looking for the second man, Chancier McFarland, 19, of the 1400 block of North 23rd Street in North Philadelphia. He is considered armed and dangerous and anyone with information should call police. There was a record $118,000 reward offered for the capture of these men. It remains to be seen if any of that reward will be claimed.

Gunfire erupted in mid-town Manhattan New York City this morning after a disgruntled former employee returned to confront a former co-worker. Jeffrey Johnson, 53, was laid off a year ago as an accessories designer at Hazan Imports. This morning around 9 am he approached a 41-year-old former colleague and shot him in the head in front of the Empire State Building. He was followed by a construction worker and pointed out to officers, a shootout erupted that left Johnson dead and 9 wounded on the streets. It is not clear how many shots Johnson fired at police, but the two officers fired a total of 14 rounds. Mayor Michael Bloomberg admitted that some of the wounded may have come from officers' bullets. The area around the landmark building was closed off for much of the day.

An ambitious art installation will debut on the Benjamin Parkway this fall and last each night from Sept 20 to Oct 14. Called Open Air, this unique light show features 24 high intensity search lights that will create a canopy of light above the Parkway. Designed by eccentric electronic artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, it will be controlled by 30-second voice recordings that anyone can submit via the website or app. Those recordings are converted to signals that will make the lights move. If you record something while on the Parkway you get priority, as do recordings with high votes. For more information just go to openairphilly.net.

Tonight mostly cloudy temperatures in the mid 70's in Philadelphia.
