Daredevil Walks Tightrope Over Atlantic City, Gun Traffic Bust, Hymies Suspect Held For Trial
  by: iradiotom - Philadelphia, PA

Daredevil Nik Wallenda gave beachgoers in Atlantic City a spectacle today. Wallenda safely completed an unharnessed tightrope walk 100 feet above the beach. The tightrope stretched 1300 feet and thousands gathered on the beach and in boats to watch.

An undercover investigation into illegal gun trafficking netted 17 arrests and the recovery of more than five dozen firearms, including sawed-off shotguns and semi-automatic rifles seized in Philadelphia. Federal authorities say almost all of the defendants have Philadelphia addresses and the sale of the firearms took place from their homes.

The man who allegedly robbed Hymie's Restaurant in Lower Merion July 14th was ordered to be held for trial. Michael Schaefer will be charged on 19 counts including felony, robbery, conspiracy and various firearms offenses. Surveillance video shows four men ordering Hymie's customers to the floor and give up their cell phones and wallets.

Scattered thunderstorms tonight. Down to 73 in Philadelphia.
