Mayor Nutter is pointing at the massive sink hole and damage created by the water main break this week as evidence the city of Philadelphia needs more federal infrastructure dollars. The 100 year old water main eruption forced the evacuation of residents for blocks and the resulting water damage has many homeowners now trying to recover from insurance companies. On average Philly's water pipes are 70 years old.

Monsignor William Lynn was sentenced today for his part in the clergy sex abuse scandal. Lynn was sentenced to 3 to 6 years in state prison for child endangerment. Judge Teresa Sarmina said Lynn turned a blind eye while "monsters in clerical garb" sexually abused children and devastated the church and community. Lynn said he was sorry and that he did his best in the position of clergy secretary, but it was not good enough.

Former Philadelphia School District principal and Charter School founder, Dorothy June Brown, has been charged in a multi-million dollar fraud case by the U.S. Attorney's office. Brown had been heralded for her students' performance on standardized tests was indicted on multiple counts of wire fraud, obstruction of justice and witness tampering. Brown and four other execs allegedly defrauded three charter schools of more than $6.5 million in taxpayer money.
