Wawa has now expanded way down south to Florida. Today, Florida Governor Rick Scott and Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer joined Wawa executives Howard Stoeckel and Chris Gheysens at the opening of their first store in Orlando. The Philadelphia based convenience chain plans to open another Orlando store and two in nearby Kissimmee in the coming weeks with another in Tampa later. Hopefully they'll be able to satisfy Florida's appetite for soda, ice, snacks, cigarettes, and of course hoagies.

Police have released video from yesterday's attack on a 10-year-old girl walking her 2-year-old brother home on the 3400 block of Lee Street in the Fairhill section of North Philadelphia. The girl was walking from her mother's home to her father's home when a man just picked her up and attempted to take her. The girl kicked and screamed and fought him off. The potential abductor is described as a Hispanic man, 6'2”, with a mustache and thin build. He was driving a white sedan, late 90's/early 00's Mitubishi or Nissan. There is a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

Abington Memorial Hospital and Holy Redeemer Health System have decided to forgo plans to merge the two health systems. This comes after controversy arose from a group of Abington's doctors who disagreed with the decision the end abortion procedures at Abington Hospital after a merger. The two hospitals released a joint statement:

“Abington Health and Holy Redeemer Health System have decided to end discussions regarding a potential partnership to create a larger health system. Together we had a bold vision that we believe would have served our community well. While we are disappointed, we believe this decision is in the best interest of both organizations. Abington Health and Holy Redeemer Health System will continue to seek opportunities to enhance the health of the communities we serve.”

Tonight, warm and humid with scattered storms in Philadelphia.
