Two former Philadelphia cops were charged today with numerous crimes including voluntary manslaughter stemming from a bizarre fatal shooting in 2008. District Attorney Seth Williams followed the recommendations of the grand jury that spent two years investigating the incident. Chauncey Ellison Sr. and his then girlfriend Robin Fortune were off-duty Nov. 17, 2008, when they went looking for a 16-year-old who “stole a pizza” from Ellison's son around their West Oak Lane neighborhood. They caught up with the alleged teenage robber outside Lawrence Allen's home. Witnesses say Ellison got out of his vehicle with his gun already drawn. Allen got between the boy and Ellison and tried to act as a peacemaker, offering to just pay for the pizza even though he had nothing to do with the situation. Fortune egged on and incited Ellison who shot Allen in the back. Allen died 3 months later from his wounds.

Police are searching for vandals in Ocean City, NJ, after 11 cars were victimized this past week. The back windows of the cars were shattered from June 28th to July 5 in the overnight hours. They were all parked on the streets between 28th and 34th. Police are looking into any surveillance from businesses or nearby homes. If you have any information you can contact the Ocean City Police Department Detective Bureau at (609)399-9111.

Police have identified the man who led them in a tense standoff this morning at City Hall during rush hour. 22-year-old Amir Bey of South Philadelphia remains in critical condition. Bey was shot 10-12 times by 16 officers after he shot at them. Authorities were initially called to the scene at 6:20 this morning with a report of an armed man firing at passing vehicles. Upon arrival, the suspect was not responding to any type of communication attempts from the officers. Police rerouted traffic and transit from City Hall and secured the area as rush hour was starting. When SWAT arrived on scene at 7:00 am, Bey raised his weapon and fired on the officers, who returned fire hitting him. Bey was taken to Hahnemann in critical condition and has had at least one surgery. The area was shut down for a few hours as an investigation was processed.
