Today the City of Philadelphia announced some of the planned festivities for the 10 day Wawa Welcome America Festival coming up at the end of this month and into the 4th of July. Some of the big events planned include the kickoff Philly at the Movies showing of “The Great Gatsby” in Rittenhouse Square June 25th. The Taste of Philadelphia celebration takes place at Penn's Landing June 29th-July 1st. Peter Nero and the Pops play a concert at Independence Hall July 3rd. The culmination is of course the Concert and Fireworks along the Ben Franklin Parkway on the 4th featuring The Roots, Quenn Latifah, Daryl Hall, Common, and Joe Jonas.

For the second time in less than a year, Police raided Jim's Steaks on South Street and arrested an employee for dealing drugs. Philadelphia police charged 55-year-old Nathaniel “Danny” Cyrus with possession with intent to distribute. A similar warrant was executed on a home in another part of town and turned up drugs and cash. Last August police arrested another Jim's employee under suspicion of dealing on the premises. The owners and managers deny knowing anything illicit was going on or that anything off menu was being served wit customers' steaks.

In Sports, Phillies activate Jim Thome from the DL. Utley and Howard both had decent games swinging the bat in extended spring training.

Tonight, partly cloudy skies with temperatures dipping into the upper 60's this evening in Philadelphia.
