The Phillies seem to be plagued by injuries these days, with a lot of unknowns, and with no end in sight for the biggest injured names of them all.

Roy Halladay is still going to be out 6-8 weeks. He received a second opinion from the Mets' physician this week but is waiting for the results.

Victorino received a Cortisone shot in his hand, sat out yesterday, but is back in the lineup today.

Vance Worley could return soon, he'll just pitch with some pain, due to the bone chip in his elbow.

Thome is waiting for Interleague play on June 8 to come back to DH. He's playing extended spring training games now.

Michael Stutes has been out with a rotator cuff injury, hopes to start a throwing program soon.

Laynce Nix did some running on Thursday for the first time after a calf strain.

David Herndon received an injection and will be looked at in a couple weeks, he's been out since the beginning of May.

Jose Contreras is likely done for the season after tearing his UCL and flexor pronator tendon in his right elbow last night. Tommy John surgery is required to repair that kind of injury.

But what about the two biggest names Howard and Utley? Howard just needs more time to heal and build strength in his calf; that will take at least another month.

Utley needs to miraculously feel better about his knees and he'll tell the world when he's ready, that could take forever. I believe Utley either needs forget about the season and figure out he just can't play baseball, or realize he's older and this is how older feels and figure out he can't play baseball like he's 26 but maybe there's a way to play like 33.

Somehow, this team, despite being in last, is only 2.5 games out of first place.
