Facebook Launched into the world of Public Ownership with it's debut on the NASDAQ today. It wasn't an impressive IPO, but it wasn't a bust either, gaining slightly on the day. However, many people still became ridiculously rich in the process. U2's Bono held a 2.3% investment stake in Facebook before the IPO through his Elevation Partners investment group. That is now worth about $1.5 billion dollars. He has pledged to use much of the money raised from his investments to aid charity work in Africa.

A rail worker was crushed under a roll of newsprint this morning at the Inquirer and Daily News printing plant in West Conshohocken. The worker, 43-year-old Jefferson Troester of Claymont, Delaware, who was employed by the rail company, opened a box car when 2 1500lb rolls came tumbling out and pinned him between the train and loading dock. The rolls came loose during transit, all other rolls on the train were secure. Troester was pronounced dead when rescue arrived one scene.

The New Barnes Foundation is now officially open. The dedication ceremony was held at the new home at 20th and the Parkway right before noon and the doors were opened to the public. It is not without controversy or celebration that this day has arrived. Free tickets have been claimed for the first week, but timed tickets can be purchased after the inaugural week.

In Sports, Charlie Manuel was suspended 1 game for his in-your-face heated argument with home plate umpire Bob Davidson in Tuesday's 4-3 win over Houston. In a rare move, MLB also suspended Davidson for 1 game for “repeated violations” in how umpires are supposed to handle situations.

Tonight clear skies, with temperatures falling through the 60's this evening in Philadelphia.
