The Philadelphia School Board voted unanimously 7-0 on Tuesday night, 8/24, to require all teachers and staff members get vaccinated against COVID-19. Details on the mandate still have to be worked out and will be discussed with the teachers' union. Those details include the start date and possible disciple for those who do not comply. There will be exceptions given for medical reasons and "sincerely held" religious beliefs. Those employees that do not get vaccinated will be required to undergo regular testing for coronavirus COVID-19. School starts next week, August 31. Also, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia announced that masks will be required at all schools for students, faculty, staff and visitors across the archdiocese.

Philadelphia rapper PnB Rock, aka Rakim Hasheem Allen, has entered an open guilty plea to one count pf possession with intent to deliver and one count of receiving stolen property. He was sentenced to 36 months of probation and 100 hours of community service. In January 2019, police searched a house on the 100 block of Konefal Street in Bensalem Township. They found five pounds of marijuana, packaging materials, scales, $33,000 in cash, and a stolen .40 caliber Glock handgun. Allen and his girlfriend Stephanie Sibounheuang were arrested. She pled guilty in September 2019 to possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to six months of probation.

He is now charged with at least armed carjacking of a SWAT vehicle and fleeing and eluding, but more charges are expected. Around 7 p.m. Monday, police were chasing Disanto on a motorcycle in Folcroft, Delaware County. He drove into Southwest Philadelphia and crashed near police at 8400 block of Lindbergh Boulevard in Southwest Philadelphia. He fired shots at the officers, but no one was hit. He jumped into an unmarked Chevy Tahoe SWAT SUV and drove off. About and hour later, police found the vehicle abandoned in Deptford, NJ. Disanto had taken some of the SWAT gear with him. He exchanged fire with police in Washington Township. An officer was struck and suffered non life-threatening injuries. Disanto was also shot, but is expected to recover. He has a lengthy criminal record going back decades.
