A violent car crash and freak accident sent a pedestrian flying over the Walnut Street bridge in University City this morning. It happened just before 10 a.m. at 30th and Walnut Streets. A blue Mercury Montego was traveling at a high rate of speed going south on 30th. It blew through the red light at Walnut Street when it got broadsided by a red Toyota Camry. At the same time, a 27-year-old male pedestrian on the sidewalk grabbed a hold of the traffic light to shield himself from the collision. The Mercury continued on it's path smashing into the light and sending the pole and pedestrian over the side of the bridge and over 30 feet down to the ground below. He was rushed to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and is listed in extremely critical condition. The driver of the Mercury was also taken to HUP in critical condition. The driver of the Camry was not injured. The crash is under investigation.

A school bus driver in Chester County has been placed on leave after video posted online showed him driving through flood waters with a bus full of kids. Residents in East Fallowfield Township recorded video of the bus driving through deep flood water on Mortonville Road around 5 p.m. last Wednesday. Coatesville Area School District contracts Krapf Bus Company. The bus was carrying students from Elligium Charter School. In addition to the suspension, the school district has asked that the driver be barred from driving on any of their bus routes again.

In Harrisburg, the Pennsylvania House State Government committee held a hearing on the possible impeachment of state Attorney General Kathleen Kane. The hearing, presided over by Rep. Daryl Metcalfe R, began first with the Democratic members trying to force an adjournment before simply all walking out in protest. The hearing proceeded with the remaining GOP members hearing testimony against Kane. The main argument against Kane stems from her refusal to defend the state's defense of marriage act against a federal court challenge based on her personal ethical feelings.
