UPDATE:Philadelphia Police have arrested Caleb Lawrence McGillvary, aka Kai, at the Greyhound bus terminal at N. 10th and Filberts Streets in Philadelphia. McGillvary has been charged with the homicide of Joseph Galfy, Jr., which occurred in Clark, N.J. on May 12, 2013. Bail is set at $3 million. He will be processed in Philadelphia before transported to Union County, NJ. He was recognized by someone on the street near Starbucks at 10th and Chestnut. Police were alerted and he was tracked to the bus terminal a few blocks away where he was arrested around 6 p.m.

Authorities were looking for a homeless drifter in connection with a May 12th murder in northern New Jersey. Union County investigators were on the hunt for 24-year-old Caleb Lawrence McGillvary in connection with the murder of 73-year-old Joseph Galfy Jr., in Clark, N.J. Despite being homeless (self-described as "homefree") and a hitchhiker, McGillvary is already known to many as internet sensation, "Kai, the hatchet-wielding hitchhiker." Back in February, video of his interview with reporters went viral following an incident in California when he stopped a driver of a car from killing a woman by smashing the driver in the head with a hatchet. (see video below) Since then authorities determined he has survived on the generosity of fans nationwide to provide him with food, shelter, and transportation enough to maintain his lifestyle.

The latest incident seems to have begun when surveillance cameras caught McGillvary and Galfy meeting in Times Square. It is believed they then went back to Galfy's. Galfy was found beaten to death after officers were called to do a wellness check at his residence on May 13th. On McGillvary's Facebookpage his post on Tuesday, May 14th hints that he believes he was “drugged and raped”.

He states, “what would you do if you woke up with a groggy head, metallic taste in your mouth, in a strangers house... walked to the mirror and seen come dripping from the side of your face from your mouth, and started wretching, realizing that someone had drugged, raped, and blown their fuckin load in you? what would you do?”

The last known location for McGillvary was a PATCO station in Haddonfield, NJ. He was thought to be heading towards Philadelphia on his was to Georgia. He has since cut his hair and has a distinctive facial tattoo. McGillvary is considered armed and dangerous and a $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to his arrest. He also goes by the name Kai Lawrence. Anyone with information is urged to call 908-654-TIPS (8477), or visit www.uctip.org, or text UCTIP plus a message 274637.
