A Ventnor, NJ man has been charged in the 1990 murder of a teenager in Galloway Township today. 41-year-old Steven L. Goff walked into the Galloway Township Police Department on Monday morning and confessed to the crime committed nearly 23 years ago. The body of 15-year-old Frederick Hart was found 19 months after he was reported missing in May of 1990. A hunter discovered the body in a wooded area in December of 1991. The body was so decomposed that a cause of death could not be determined. Goff, who was 19 at the time, confessed to stabbing Hart to death. At a preliminary hearing Goff said, “I’m prepared to enter a guilty plea right here and now. I did the crime. I’m prepared to do whatever I have to do.” Judge Michael A. Donio prevented him from entering a plea until he had legal counsel. He was taken to Atlantic County Justice Facility in lieu of bail set at a $1 million cash.

A mother in Egg Harbor Township, NJ is under arrest for arson after she attempted to burn her house down early this morning around 12:20 am with her 12-year-old daughter and another woman, 41-year-old Yeser Bekete, still inside. The police arrived before the fire department and were able to rescue the two female from the house. After the fire department put out the flames they were able to determine that the home owner, Amy Ochetto, 43, used a flammable liquid to intentionally start the fire. She is being charged with aggravated arson, aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child. She was held at the Atlantic County jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail.

Police have released a sketch of a suspect (see below) wanted in the carjacking of an 80-year-old woman over the weekend. The incident happened outside the Metro Diner in Brooklawn, NJ on Route 130 just before 11:30 am on Sunday. The suspect tried to return stolen goods to a Rite Aid when he was recognized, ran outside, and stole the woman's car as a getaway. If you have any information, you're asked to call the Brooklawn Police Department at 856-456-0750.
