The city of Philadelphia is now offering free condoms to children as young as 11 years old to stem the spread of STD's. And the website, www.takecontrolphilly.org offers blunt advice for girls on how to insert condoms, such as "Figure out what position works for you. You can stand with one foot on a chair, sit on the edge of a chair, lie down, squat, or for fun, have your partner help you out." The idea of 11 year olds being... Read More

There's nothing like the feeling you get when you've just picked up some new music that you haven't heard yet. A certain level of anticipation as you unwrap the plastic from that CD, tape, record and pull it out of it's case/cover. Put it into the player, lay down the needle, or cue up the track. Then you hit play and the sounds come through the speakers for the first time. It's a reward, this took some effort to obtain. It wasn't a point and click download. You had to go somewhere, walk around... Read More

Will Tastykake Leave Philly?

Georgia based Flowers Foods Inc. has acquired Philadelphia's Tasty Baking for an estimated 34.3 million. Known across the South for products like Nature's Own bread and Mrs. Freshley's pies, the addition of Kandy Kakes and Butterscotch Krimpets seems like logical line extension through an already established distribution pipeline. What will happen to Phiadelphia's Tastykake employees? According to Flowers, everyone keeps their job. At least for... Read More

Former Villanova Forward, Will Sheridan, Releases Music Video

I've always liked the NCAA commercials that say how there are 400,000 student-athletes and most will be professional in something other than sports. As a former NCAA athlete myself, I'm obviously not making a living as a professional cross country runner. Most college sports don't have pro leagues that can even offer the chance at a career or only pay enough to the top few. Basketball is one that does pay very well, and for a lot of talent coming out of college there is very good money to be... Read More

Phillies, Sixers, Flyers, oh my... Fall fans don't get me wrong, I love Eagles football, and October baseball especially, but you can't beat this April for non-stop Philadelphia sports almost every day/night of the week. This year we have the Phils off to a predicted great start. The young Sixers are headed back to the playoffs lead by coach of the year candidate Doug Collins. Plus, the Flyers won the division and are hoping to go back to the Stanley Cup finals and finish last year's... Read More
