No More Free Ride at FDR Park for Phillies Parking

Phillies fans who don't mind a bit of a walk have been taking advantage of the ample free parking at FDR Park for decades. However that has all come to an abrupt halt tonight as the Parks and Recreation Department started to actually enforce its 1984 curfew law. Anyone parked in Franklin Delano Roosevelt Park after 9pm tonight would have found a nice $41 parking ticket after the Phils' win over the Padres.

So I just found out about The Color Run today and it's taking place in Philly on July 8th 2012! For those of you who don't know, The Color Run is a "race" that anyone can participate in! You can walk the three miles or you can sprint...it doesn't matter!

Why is it called the color run? Probably because participants get sprayed with a different color at every kilometer mark! All runners must begin the race wearing a white shirt! In the 1 kilometer zone, participants are hit with... Read More

Philadelphia Local Music Day is finally here. Tomorrow all around the city a handful of featured local artists will be heard playing in the establishments of local businesses for the whole day. Since we are also in the business of doing things that "give local musicians more exposure within the Philadelphia community", this sounds like a great idea and hope there's many more to come.

Texting while driving is illegal. And now a New Jersey town is issuing citations for texting while walking. Police in Fort Lee, Bergen County say it's for pedestrian safety. 20 people have been hit by cars so far this year. In the last month and a half, 117 tickets have been issued at $85 apiece - for texting while walking. WTF

New legislation in Harrisburg would hold drivers accountable if they have to be rescued from flood waters after driving around barricades blocking... Read More

The 76ers edged past the Chicago Bulls tonight to win 79-78 in Game 6. That clinches this young team's first playoff series win since 2003. They become only the 5th number 8 seed to defeat a number 1 in the NBA playoffs. They'll meet the Boston Celtics in Round 2.

The Sixers took full advantage of some keys losses for the Bulls, who lost reigning MVP G Derrick Rose and C Joakim Noah to injury, to get out ahead of the Chicago team in the series.

Had a wonderful and productive first day at iradiophilly. On the way home I heard Keane's new song. Their new album is entitled Black Rain and the single is called Silenced by the Night. I started listening to Keane a long time ago so I have a history with them and this Keane is much different then their old stuff. It has more of an antique feel almost with a U2 vibe. Although it is very different I really love it after only hearing it once.
