The Philly Pops board of directors filed a motion in Bankruptcy court yesterday effectively saying it's goodbyes to Peter Nero. Nero has been the music director for the Pops for 33 years. The problem lies in Nero's contract, which the organization says is "simply too economically burdensome." The new leadership believes that it cannot continue to compensate Nero at his current contract levels and also continue move forward recovering financially. Fifth Tacony Home Invasion, Jerry Sandusky Trial Testimony, Summer School Underclassmen Must Pay

Police are investigating another home invasion in the Tacony section. The incident happened at about 3am. The intruder apparently entered through an unlocked door and confronted a teenage girl with a gun. They got away with some entertainment gear, but no one was hurt. This is the fifth home invasion in Tacony in the last week.

Pennsylvania's House of Representatives called it a night after three hours of debate over a whether the state government should turn over the sale of liquor and wine to private business. Proponents said Majority Leader Mike Turzai's proposal would provide the convenience and lower prices consumers want. But opponents warned that privatization would throw thousands of state-store employees out of work while doing little to placate constituents who find better deals in other states.

Chase Utley will start an official rehabilitation assignment tomorrow with the Clearwater Threshers (A) as the DH. This will put him on track for a July 2nd return to the Phillies if he uses all 20 days available in the Rehab assignment. He's been in Florida since June 3rd playing in extended spring training games, but has yet to take the field, but has run the bases.

Temple University basketball star Khalif Wyatt was arrested early this morning and charged with engaging in prostitution and resisting arrest. Wyatt was in Atlantic City celebrating his 21st birthday. He made an offer to pay for sex near a hotel at Montpelier and Pacific Avenues, he then saw a uniformed officer and fled, only to be apprehended just down the block. Black bears have been making some public appearances in South Jersey this past week, unnerving area residents. The latest siting was in Shamong Township, Burlington County at the Oakview trailer park. A resident saw the bear eating from her bird feeder, but had retreated by the time police arrived. On Wednesday, a bear was spotted in Waterford Township, Camden County eating trash before retreating back into the woods, but causing the Waterford elementary school principal to lockdown the school.... Friday night and early Saturday morning was another violent one in Philadelphia. Police are investigating four shootings that sent 5 people to the hospital. The first attack came last night around 5:30 in East Falls. Two men, 34 and 28, were approached be a man on foot and shot multiple times in the legs. No suspect or motive is known.
