Philadelphia Population Continues to Grow

After 50 years of declining population, Philadelphia has seen a significant rebound and the future looks bright. According to new population projections from the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission, the nine-county region will be home to 6.26 million people by 2040, an 11.3 percent increase over the 2010 population of 5.63 million.

Kevin Kless Deadly Beating Reward Increases

Philadelphia police continue to ask for the public's help as they try to find the men involved in a deadly beating in Old City last weekend. And the reward for information continues to grow.

The reward for information leading to an arrest in the death of 23-year-old Kevin Kless is now up to $20,000, as the Citizen’s Crime Commission is announcing another $5,000.

Tattoo is Van Halen's first new song with David Lee Roth in more than 15 years.

The song's got a stomping blues rock groove, lots of signature Roth howls along with Eddie Van Halen as razor sharp and on form as VH fans could hope.

Funk Legend Jimmy Castor Passes

Jimmy Castor, Funk Legend, Band Leader, and Saxophonist passed away Tuesday in Henderson, NV, of heart failure at age 71. Castor was born in Manhattan in 1940 and grew up in Harlem and Washington Heights playing with rock n' roll singer Frankie Lymon. He branched out on his own and took his mastery of R&B, doo woo, Latin soul, and Funk with him.

Philly Undercover Debuts on Nat Geo Wild

The fight against animal cruelty in Philadelphia is getting national exposure in a National Geographic channel show.

The series, "Philly Undercover", covers everything from dog - and bird - fighting to pet hoarding.

The show is the result of video crews following Philadelphia animal cops on their rounds for eight months.

Cole Hamels and Wilson Valdez Sign 1-year Contracts With Phillies and Avoid Arbitration

Left-hander Cole Hamels and infielder Wilson Valdez have both agreed to one-year contracts with the Phillies General Manager Ruben Amaro Jr. announced the deals today. Both players were eligible for salary arbitration but avoided those proceedings by signing these deals.

Philadelphia lost the last of its Gino's Hamburger joints in 1982 when Marriott bought the company and replaced them with Roy Rogers restaurants. But now, Gino's is making a comeback, led by the original founder Gino Marchetti. A few Gino's are open already including King of Prussia, where 85 year old Gino Marchetti himself can be found working in the kitchen. Gino hopes to expand into downtown Philly this year. Yuengling is now the Largest American Brewery

D.G. Yuengling and Son, based in Pottsville, PA, has become the largest domestically owned brewery, passing Sam Adams maker Boston Beer. Last year, Yuengling's shipments rose 16.9% to 2.5 million barrels, where Boston Beer only rose 8% to 2.4 million barrels.

CBS 3 reports the new home of the Barnes art collection being built on the Ben Franklin Parkway is harvesting elements from the past, and incorporating features of the future, to achieve LEED Platinum Certification.
