Deferred Retirement Option Plan. Council gave preliminary approval to keep DROP, but at a reduced cost. Police and firefighters would be exempted from some changes.
The final tally at the committee-level vote was 15-2 in favor of the plan.
Mayor Nutter, declined to say whether he would veto the bill if it receives final passage, which could come as soon as next Thursday.

It's getting hard to ignore the swell of interest in this Weiner story. It's even harder to avoid the bad puns and double entendre. Weiner is of course, US Representative Anthony Weiner, who engaged in sexting X rated messages and photos to strange women. Weiner lied about it, but nobody swallowed, so he fessed up. Now the Weiner weiner pictures are floating around in cyberspace and Weiner watchers must see the Weiner picture. An elected public official gets caught in a juicy lie. Now, it... Read More

Katie Couric's new syndicated TV show will launch September 2012. Couric, who is an NBC and CBS on-air veteran will also have a role with ABC News.

NFL Lockout Latest
  by: Rebel - Havertown, PA

There was a court hearing on Friday in St. Louis whether to enforce an injunction to lift the NFL lockout or throw it out on appeal. The judges are saying that a ruling would come in "due course" and suggest that both sides work out a deal in the meantime.

For the players, a deal now would assure them of getting their paychecks in the fall and might be their best chance to get a decent deal before the court ruling really hurts them.

The one way both sides really... Read More
