Villanova Men's Basketball paused basketball operations for a second time due to coronavirus COVID-19 issues on Monday, 1/4, for at least a 10-day quarantine. The Wildcats next three games have been postponed including Tuesday, 1/5, at DePaul; Friday, 1/8, vs. Marquette; and Wednesday, 1/13, at Xavier. Two people are dead after a two-alarm fire in Berks County early Sunday morning, 1/3. It happened around midnight on the 1200 block of Chestnut Street in Reading. Heavy flames could be seen coming from the front of the row home. It took 45 minutes to bring the fire under control. Firefighters found a woman and teen girl inside while searching the building. A woman has died after a single car crash in Northeast Philadelphia around midnight, 1/2. It happened as the vehicle was exiting Woodhaven Road onto Thornton Road. The car left the road and crashed into a pole. The woman was sitting in the backseat. She was taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Dick Thornburgh, former Pennsylvania governor and US Attorney General, passed away on Thursday morning, 12/31, at a retirement community facility outside Pittsburgh. He was 88.
