CHOP Twins Surgery Successful, NJ Nor'easter Zaps Power, Old City Water Pipe Woes

Surgeons at CHOP successfully completed operations to separate 8-month-old twin girls from New York who were joined at the lower chest and abdomen. Lead surgeon Holly Hedrick said in a statement Wednesday night that the complex surgery "went very well and as expected." Officials said the surgery was the 21st separation of conjoined twins performed at the hospital.

Lady Gaga will donate $1 million to the Red Cross to help the victims of Superstorm Sandy. Gaga is from New York and blogged that she would not be the person or artist she is today if it were not for places like the Lower Eastside, Harlem, the Bronx and Brooklyn. President Obama has won four more years in the White House. The Presidential election was a virtual dead heat all night with Mitt Romney leading most of the way in the popular vote. However, Obama won the Electoral College votes needed for re-election. The Township of Toms River, New Jersey has issued evacuation notices ahead of the Nor'easter forecasted to hit the region today, bringing rain, high winds and the potential for moderate coastal flooding. The mandatory evacuations are effective at 12 p.m. Wednesday for anyone working or staying on the Barrier Island.
There is a voluntary evacuation for the low lying areas on the mainland effective 4 p.m. today.Four more years.

After a seemingly endless and exhausting 18 months of campaigning and a tense night while election returns came in from across the country, President Barack Obama and Vice-President Joe Biden has won re-election for a second term in office. The Jersey shore may catch a little break in the weather tomorrow. The Nor'easter threatening the coastline could possibly weaken a bit. The storm, headed this way from Florida may veer further offshore than earlier predicted. What that means is less wind and rain, however gusts may still reach 50 miles per hour at the shore tomorrow afternoon. For Philadelphia and the I-95 corridor, a mix of rain and snow is possible.

Police in Bucks County are searching for a missing elderly man who was last seen leaving his home on Sunday. Police say Raymond Buchek left his home on Dogwood Drive in Levittown at about 10 a.m. Sunday to take a walk and has not been seen since. He was last seen wearing a brown jacket and khaki pants.
