A fight over a man between two women in the Tioga-Nicetown neighborhood escalated into an intentional hit-and-run that severed one woman's leg and ended with a house burning down. The fight happened after 2 pm on the 4400 block of N. 17th Street between 24-year-old Beatrice Spence, known as De-De, and another woman known as 'Precious.' Philadelphia Police are 'certain' that they have recovered the car that killed a 2-year-old boy and injured his mother in a hit-and-run accident in Kensington this week. Philadelphia Police shot a man they say was armed with two guns late Thursday night in the Frankford section of the city. Officers were responding to a call of shots fired just before midnight and found a large crowd gathered along the 1600 block of Pratt Street, near the Frankford Transportation Center. A judge has upheld charges against three people accused of beating a gay couple in Center City last year. Philip Williams of Warminster; Kevin Harrigan of Warrington; and Kathryn Knott of Southampton (pictured) were walking in a group of about a dozen people in September when they encountered the two victims near 16th and Chancellor Streets. Live Nation's House of Blues Entertainment division announced today with confetti and fireworks that it will be opening two new music venues along the Delaware Waterfront in Philadelphia's Fishtown neighborhood. A high school in Delaware is at the center of a debate over the school's mascot and nickname. For the last 80 years Conrad High School has used the name Conrad Redskins and many alumni are resisting the "retire the mascot" committee. April 16th is now known as Wawa Day in Philadelphia, marking the day that the company's first convenience store opened. Wawa anticipates giving away more than 1.5-million cups of free coffee today to all customers chain-wide. A Montgomery County drug task force has arrested two people and seized one kilogram of heroin in a drug bust in Norristown this week. Detectives intercepted a conversation between a Philadelphia area man and a Mexican drug trafficker about the purchase of kilogram amounts of heroin. Christie Proposes Social Security Overhaul; Teacher Fall Settlement; PA Speed Camera Consideration

New Jersey governor Chris Christie has proposed a $1 trillion overhaul of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. The governor called for reduced Social Security benefits for seniors earning more than $80,000, and ending payments entirely for those making $200,000 or more, as well as an increase in the retirement age from 67 to 69.
