Prison for Man Growing 1300 Pot Plants, Freezing Rain Damage, Christie Rebuilding His Reputation

A Kensington man was sent to prison after 1300 potted marijuana plants (pictured) were found in his home. Forty one year old Vinh Quang Nguyen pleaded guilty to possession with intent to sell. His grow house on the 2300 block of Frankford Avenue was intended to provide income for his girlfriend and her two children, 4 and 6 years old. Instead, it got him 3 to 7 years in prison.

Atlantic City Boy Identified, GW Bridge Lawsuit Filed, Bill Conlin Dies

Authorities have identified the 13-year-old boy who they say was fatally shot during an altercation Wednesday afternoon in Atlantic City. The victim was Angel Mercado-Santiago, of Atlantic City. On Wednesday at about 3 p.m., Atlantic City Police responded to the scene of a shooting near the intersection of Route 30 and Virginia Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found two teen males, ages 13 and 15, suffering from gunshot wounds. No arrests have yet been made.

Flash flood watches are in effect and flood warnings have been issued for Bucks and Mercer counties on both sides of the Delaware. Ice jams have formed causing water levels to rise. When the ice jam breaks, water accumulated behind the ice can cause floods downstream.

Philadelphia Police say a 44-year-old man is hospitalized after being shot twice during a carjacking attempt in Northeast Philadelphia in the 7200 block of Horrocks Street. Police say the victim, shot twice in the torso, was taken to Aria Health Torresdale Campus. He is listed in critical but stable condition. Two male suspects wearing all black clothing fled northbound on Horrocks Street. No arrests have been made at this time.

Ice Jams on Delaware River / Flash Flood Warnings; Suspect Arrested in Fatal Upper Darby Hit-and-Run

Ice jams on the Delaware River near Trenton have prompted a Flood Warning for Bucks and Mercer counties. The warnings are in effect until 4:30 Thursday morning. Officials will be monitoring the water levels on both sides of the river. Route 32 (River Road) between Black Rock Road and Trenton Avenue in Lower Makefield Township has been closed. Longtime Philadelphia Phillies' broadcaster Chris Wheeler will not be returning to the broadcaster booth in 2014 after nearly four decades as a play-by-play and color analyst on both TV and radio. Gary Matthews will also not be rejoining the broadcast team after seven years doing color for television and radio.

Some of the coldest temperatures in decades were recorded in the last 36 hours from the Philadelphia region to the Jersey Shore. On Long Beach Island Harvey Cedars Police provided photos of a frozen Barnegat Bay. The scene with frozen docks and an ice covered bay looks more like Alaska than New Jersey.

Philadelphia Police say a man, shot multiple times in the abdomen, has died. It happened Tuesday night on the 6300 block of Musgrave Street in Germantown. The 25-year-old victim was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center in extremely critical condition. Police say he was later pronounced dead. Police are investigating.
