SEPTA Union Contract Expiring; Killed Husband With Anti-Freeze/Steroids; PHC Approves iPic Boyd Plan

The contract between SEPTA and it's largest union is set to expire tonight at midnight. Despite the unlikelihood of a workers' strike from Transport Workers Union Local 234, SEPTA does have plans in place in case of service interruption. TWU represents 5,200 bus, subway, and trolley operators inside the City of Philadelphia. Negotiations between SEPTA and Local 234 are continuing. Aborted Flight Passengers Take Off, Delaware County Gas Main Evacuation, E-Cigarette Ban

Passengers from yesterday's aborted US Airways Flight 1702 finally made it to Fort Lauderdale early this morning. The plane blew a tire last night on takeoff from Philadelphia International. The pilot aborted and the front landing gear collapsed. All passengers got evacuated safely. Some booked flights and got out on other airlines.

PHL US Airways Takeoff Aborted, Affordable Health Care Events, Radnor Rabies Warning

Passengers were evacuated from US Airways flight 1702 to Ft. Lauderdale after the captain aborted takeoff Thursday night at Philadelphia International Airport. The aircraft did get airborne, and the nose gear collapsed when it returned to the ground. Initial reports indicated the flight blew a tire on takeoff. 149 passengers and five crew members were on board. Passengers were evacuated onto the runway for pickup. US Airways Flight 1702 heading towards Fort Lauderdale from Philadelphia International Airport barely got off the ground before the captain aborted. During takeoff going down the runway, the plane just lift off the ground and slammed back down. A tire burst in the front landing gear, and the plane came to rest on it's nose. All 149 passengers and 5 crew were evacuated safely. This happened at 6:30 pm. The plane is an Airbus A320. Emergency crews are on scene.

Today's reminder from Mother Nature that Winter is still with us is causing some problems on the roads and for the power companies. Winds are gusting to 40 miles per hour and bringing down trees and taking power lines with them. It's probably a good day to avoid the back road scenic route as numerous limbs large and small are reported down around the suburban areas.

NJ Daycare Heroin Bust, Affordable Care Act Debate, DeCoatsworth Changes Guilty Plea

Police have arrested a father after 48 packets of heroin were found in his 2-year-old son’s jacket at a northern New Jersey daycare center. An employee at Michael's Energy Factory in Paterson made the discovery. Police say there’s no indication the child knew the drugs were in his pocket or that other children were exposed to the heroin. Police have charged the father with child endangerment.
