I-495 North in Wilmington Reopens; Taney Welcome Home Party; Two Women Shot in Holmesburg

The northbound lanes of I-495 in Wilmington, DE reopened Saturday ahead of schedule. After a stress test by DelDOT, the all clear was given and lanes were open to traffic around 3:15 pm Saturday afternoon. I-495 around Wilmington was closed on June 2nd after tilting in the support columns of the bridge over the Christiana River was discovered. A dirt pile near the bridge was blamed for damage. Germantown Home Shooting; Man Killed in Juniata; Bensalem Teen Guilty of Rape

A man is in critical condition after being shot in his home in Germantown Friday night. The incident happened around 9:00 p.m. Friday in the 5700 block of McMahon Avenue. The 45-year-old man was shot once in the stomach by his 78-year-old mother. He was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center. It is believed that he may have fired at her first and she was returning fire. The mother was taken into custody. Police continue to investigate.

Police say 21 people were injured when a SEPTA bus and a Pepsi truck collided along 611 in Montgomery County this afternoon. The Pepsi truck rear-ended the inbound Route 55 SEPTA bus near Old York Road and Meetinghouse Road in Cheltenham at around 3:45 p.m. The bus was headed towards Olney from the Willow Grove/Doylestown area. Philadelphia's Taney Dragons were eliminated from the Little League World Series last night. Disappointed? Sure. However, these young Taney Dragons lit a fire in Philadelphia and across the country that inspired and engaged all of us. Freckle-faced and pony tailed athletes from a rural Philadelphia neighborhood demonstrated just how much a unified group can do together. These kids are heroes and deserve a celebration.

Chicago ended Taney's Little League World Series run with a 6-5 defeat Thursday night. The final result wasn't a foregone conclusion, despite the fatigued Dragons playing on consecutive days, without their star pitcher, Davis, on the mound against a loaded - and rested - Chicago team. Chicago, or Jackie Robinson West, will advance to the United States Championship game on Saturday against Mountain Ridge of Las Vegas, the team that owns victories over both Taney and Chicago.

The trial of 21-year-old daycare worker Christina Regusters was set to begin today but was delayed until next week after two jurors dropped out and to allow the defense to go over new evidence. Regusters is accused a kidnapping a 5-year-old Philadelphia girl from her classroom and sexually assaulting her.
