Man Throws Gas at Girlfriend Smoking in Motel; Teen Drops Spikes off Bridge; Presidential Graduation

A Philadelphia man is under arrest and charged in connection to a deadly fire at a Bucks County motel fire on Sunday morning. It happened at around 2:30 a.m. at the Lincoln Motel on the 2200 block of Lincoln Highway in Bensalem. 46-year-old Kevin Small is charged with criminal homicide, arson, and other offenses. A black bear has been spotted wandering around East Fairmount Park on Friday afternoon. A fisherman first spotted the large animal while he was fishing in Wissahickon Valley Park downstream from the Valley Green Inn. Facebook has been under fire this week over claims that some of its news curators prevented conservative outlets from showing up in its "Trending Topics" section. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg say his company is investigating a report accusing it of a liberal news bias, but has so far found "no evidence" that it's true. Zuckerberg says he plans to invite leading conservatives and people from across the political spectrum to discuss their points of view in the coming weeks.

Philadelphia Police are searching for a suspect who escaped police custody from a hospital. 24-year-old Khalil Robinson was arrested Wednesday evening for DUI and narcotics offenses outside 65th and Woodland Avenue in West Philadelphia. He was taken to Penn Presbyterian Hospital. When two officers arrived to relieve the prisoner detail, one officer went into the room to check to see if Robinson was handcuffed. Doctors Indicted in Drugs for Cash Scheme; More Flu Deaths; Visit Philadelphia CFO Pleads Guilty

Three Philadelphia-area doctors, including one from Ambler, have been indicted in a $5 million prescription drugs for cash scheme. Alan Summers, 78, of Ambler; Azad Khan, 63, of Villanova; and Dr. Keyhosrow Parsia, 79, of Ridley Park were named in the indictment. The three men sold prescriptions for Suboxone, a drug used to treat opiate addition, and Klonopin in exchange for cash. The substances were often sold to drug dealers or drug addicts who sold the medications.

Many across the region are pausing to remember a fatal Amtrak crash in Philadelphia. It was one year ago today that a speeding train ran off the rails at Frankford Junction, killing eight people and injuring scores of others.
