Traffic Judge Charged Bribery; CB West Cancels Football; NE PA Man Looks Like Frein

A former Philadelphia Traffic Court judge has been charged with bribery in a corruption case that was turned down by the Pennsylvania Attorney General. Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams announced the charges today against Thomasine Tynes. Tynes is accused of accepting a $2,000 Tiffany bracelet from a businessman in exchange for special access to government contracts. One person has died and four others were injured in a crash between a car and a tractor trailer on the Pennsylvania Turnpike early this morning. The accident happened westbound between Mid-County and Fort Washington just after midnight. The four injured young adults were transported to Abington Memorial Hospital in serious condition.

On Tuesday, October 21st, Primus released their 8th studio album Primus & the Chocolate Factory with the Fungi Ensemble. This is their first release featuring the band's original lineup of frontman/bassist Les Claypool, guitarist Larry Lalonde and drummer Tim 'Herb' Alexander since Tales From the Punchbowl in 1995. A man died early yesterday morning in a one car crash on City Avenue at about 6:30 AM. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash, which occurred at about 4:20 AM. The crash destroyed the vehicle and ejected the man from the car. He was rushed to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he later passed away.

A city council committee has signed off on a sweeping overhaul of how Philadelphia handles large vacant buildings. The changes were spurred by the deaths of firefighters Robert Neary and Daniel Sweeney in April 2012 battling a blaze that had begun in a vacant warehouse. Among the changes called for in the bill are better systems to make sure the large vacant properties are secured and inspected with information on the properties readily available in a database. The CDC announced today that it will start tracking everyone entering the U.S. from Ebola-stricken nations. Those people will be monitored for symptoms of the disease for 21 days. This includes American aid workers, federal health employees and journalists, and West African visitors. 70% of people that arrive from Liberia, Sierra Leone and New Guinea enter in one of six states including Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Tim Hauser, founder of internationally acclaimed recording group, Manhattan Transfer passed away suddenly on October 16, 2014. Tim Hauser was forever connected to Philadelphia via Villanova University during his college days here from 1959 to 1963. She is the youngest person to receive Philadelphia's Liberty Medal and the Nobel. Yesterday, 17 year old Nobel Peace Prize winner, Malala Yousafzai (pictured-Inquirer), the girl who stood up against the Taliban, received the Liberty Medal at the National Constitution Center.
