New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy and state legislative leaders arrived at deal on the state's budget just hours before the midnight deadline which will keep the government open and running. This will keep beaches and parks open for the July 4th holiday. The deal was announced this afternoon from the Governor's office and included Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin, Senate President Steve Sweeney, and other lawmakers. A school bus overturned on the New Jersey Turnpike in Cherry Hill, NJ, injuring several people on board. It happened around 11:40 a.m. Friday, 6/29, in the southbound lanes near Haddonfield-Berlin Road. The bus was carrying Boys and Girls Club campers to the Adventure Aquarium in Camden. 25 campers, 3 counselors, and the driver were on board. Philadelphia police are searching for a man that was kidnapped and held for ransom on North Philadelphia. 27-year-old Luis Alejandro Chueder Ramon was taken in broad daylight aroun 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, 6/19, on the 2000 block of North Orkney Street in the Norris Square neighborhood. A man with a long running vendetta launched a targeted attack on a newspaper in Annapolis, Maryland on Thursday, 6/28, killing 5 (4 journalists, 1 sales assistant). Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy announced that he is retiring. The 81-year-old was appointed by President Reagan and has served over 30 years on the bench. Kennedy was a conservative voice on the court, but also acted as the swing vote on several occasions siding with his liberal colleagues. His retirement is expected to take effect the end of July. A warrant has been issued for the South Jersey man who stole a plane and took it for a joyride along the shore on Sunday night, 6/24. The man has been identified as 50-year-old Jimmy Dahlen Jr. He works as a mechanic at Paramount Air Services in Middle Township. Philadelphia Common Pleas Judge Genece Brinkley has denied Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill's, aka Robert Rimeek Williams, appeal for a new trial. The judge filed her decision on Monday, 6/25, one week from the appeal hearing on 6/18.
