NJ Gov Murphy Extends Emergency Another 30 Days; Horse Rescued From Pool; DRPA Reopening Cash Lanes

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy has extended the state's public health emergency by another 30 days. The declaration was first signed in March and renewed in April. The declarations automatically expire after 30 days and must be renewed each time. Murphy said that even though the state is making progress the underlying conditions for the order still exist. The mayors of Avalon and Stone Harbor in Cape May County, New Jersey, announced that their beaches will reopen for limited activities starting Friday morning, 5/8. Two teen girls were struck by a beach patrol vehicle while lying on the beach in Ship Bottom on Saturday, 5/2. It happened on the 26th Street Beach around 1p.m. The girls, 14 and 15, were airlifted to Jersey Shore Medical Center with lower body injuries, but have since been released to their families. 22-year-old John Purdon of Barnegat, NJ, was driving the vehicle at the time.
