Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney announced on Wednesday, 4/22, that the city will be pushing back the effective date for the ban on single-use plastic bags from July 2, 2020, to January 1, 2021. Kenney said that due to the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic the initial date is unrealistic as the city has not had the time to implement the law while focusing on the crisis. The United States Senate has passed a $484 billion stimulus bill to refill the popular small businesses PPP program as well as help out hospitals and expand testing. The bill was passed by a voice vote quickly after Congress and the White House reached an agreement. Pennsylvania officials have published an interactive map that shows both confirmed cases and the number of negative tests in the state. The data is available on both a county level and a zip code level. The county level also shows the number of deaths. 34,528 people have tested positive, 132,323 patients have tested negative, and 1,564 have died in the commonwealth. Pennsylvania Governor Wolf announced on Monday, 4/20, that stay-at-home orders across the commonwealth will be extended to at least Friday, May 8. He also announced three actions dealing with online auto sales, construction, and curbside liquor pickup. Wolf is expected to sign Senate Bill 841 on Monday that will permit online notary services.
