The City of Philadelphia announced on Monday, April 11, that it will be moving back to Level 2: Mask Precautions in the COVID-19 response system due to rising case counts. It will go into effect on Monday, April 18, to give businesses a one-week educational period. Level 2 is when average new cases per day are between 100 and 225. A Philadelphia man is wanted for shooting and killing his ex-girlfriend as she was pumping gas at a gas station in King of Prussia on Friday night, 4/8. The Montgomery County District Attorney's Office has issued an arrest warrant with charges of first-degree murder, person not to possess a firearm, and other related offenses. 38-year-old Rafiq Thompson is accused of killing 31-year-old Tamara Cornelius. Philadelphia Police are asking the public's help in identifying three suspects wanted in the shooting of a 15-year-old in an attempted carjacking last month in the Wissinoming neighborhood. It happened in the evening of March 24 on the 6200 block of Mulberry Street. 15-year-old Sean Toomey was shot and killed outside of his home. It happened around 7 a.m. on March 18 on the 2500 block of South Shields Street near Elmwood Avenue. The incident was captured on doorbell camera. Ahmir 'Questlove' Thompson, drummer for The Roots, won Best Music Film for Summer of Soul. He took home an Oscar for Best Documentary for the same film last Sunday. A 3-alarm fire in Trenton left two dead and 4 injured on Saturday night, 4/2. It happened just before 7 p.m. on the 800 block of Carteret Street. The fire may have been caused by a candle. 20-year twin brothers were killed in the fire. They were trapped on the third floor of the home. Four firefighters were also injured. A New Jersey man who conspired with his then girlfriend and a homeless veteran to create a false feel good story, and turned that into a $400,000 GoFundMe scam was sentenced on Friday, 4/1, on federal charges. Mark D'Amico will serve 27 months in prison followed by three years of probation. He must also pay restituion and undergo gambling, drug and mental health counseling.
