The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland has announced the nominees for the 2017 induction class. This year's ballot includes first time nominees Tupac Shakur, Pearl Jam, Bad Brains, Depeche Mode, Electric Light Orchestra, Jane's Addiction, Joan Baez, Journey, and Steppenwolf. The other nominees are Janet Jackson, the Cars, the Zombies, Yes, Chaka Khan, Chic, J. Geils Band, Joe Tex, Kraftwerk, and MC5. Rapper Drake has announced that he will be canceling the remainder of his Summer Sixteen tour due to injury. That includes a concert date scheduled for this Thursday, October 13th at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. A show in Toronto, and 2 shows in both Newark, NJ, and Brooklyn, NY were also canceled. Legendary music venue Tin Angel and the restaurant Serrano on S. 2nd Street in Old City are set to be sold in the coming months. Serrano has been serving food in that location since 1985. The Tin Angel opened upstairs in 1992. The landmark room has been a hallmark stop for singer-songwriters both locally and nationally. Kanye West's scheduled concert at the Wells Fargo Center tonight Tuesday, October 4th has been postponed 'due to family concerns.' The event has been rescheduled to December 13th. All tickets will be honored at the new date. The musicians of the Philadelphia Orchestra went on strike Friday night just as the 7pm Opening Night black-tie gala fundraiser concert was supposed to start. The members of the American Federation of Musicians Local 77, which includes 96 musicians and 2 librarians, voted to walk out.
