March Madness is in full swing, and the tournament field is now set with two Big 5 teams securing spots in the bracket. Villanova made it despite their horrific 6 game slide to end their season. They'll play Friday as a 9 seed against 8 seed George Mason in the East Region. In the West Region, Temple will play on Thursday as a 7 seed in an interesting match up... against 10 seed Penn State, who hasn't been in the tournament since losing in the sweet 16 to Temple 10 years ago. Penn State had... Read More

Was BYU Brandon Davies suspended for what he did or for breaking the honor code?

  by: iradioal - Philadelphia, PA
started: 03/04/11 12:24 pm | updated: 03/04/11 12:24 pm

Many are talking about the recent suspension of BYU basketball player Brandon Davies for violating the school's honor code. Some may question the content and strictness of the code which forbids seemingly commonplace college activities such as sex or alcohol, even coffee. However, the real story could just be that Davies violated a code that every BYU student is very well aware of, having had two interviews during the admission process, one with a bishop, and having to resign the Honor Code... If you haven't been paying attention to the Philadelphia 76ers, and many haven't, you're missing what is becoming a remarkable turnaround. After an awful season last year, new coach Doug Collins installed a different philosophy. The young Sixers started the season 3-13 but are now in the playoff hunt. With a 9-3 record in February, Doug Collins was named the NBA Eastern Conference coach of the month - the first Sixers coach to win the honor since Larry Brown in 2003. So far, Sixers... What did Oprah Winfrey have up her sleeve when she invited Michael Vick to appear on her show? It’s the first sign of Spring. Pitchers and catchers have finally reported to Clearwater for the Phillies as anticipation of another World Series run grows. With the four aces on the mound, Joe Blanton is currently slotted as the 5th starter with Kyle Kendrick coming out of the bullpen backed by a healthy Brad Lidge as closer. All of baseball is talking about the Phillies. Will anything less than a World Series title be considered a failure in Philadelphia? ... Read More

Juan Castillo the New Genius of Eagles' Defense?

  by: iradiotom - Philadelphia, PA
started: 02/02/11 5:04 pm | updated: 02/02/11 5:04 pm

Either Andy Reid is brilliant and sees something that none of us see, or he has lost his marbles. Nothing against Juan Castillo. He's done a fine job of coaching a very good offensive line for the Birds. Has he ever coached Defense? Is he being given an opportunity as Defensive Coordinator as a reward? Is Andy setting Castillo up to be next year's excuse for losing? Hopefully, Castillo has the respect of the Defense and has a winning plan. He conviced Andy. I still need to be convinced...
