started: 07/30/11 3:42 am | updated: 07/30/11 3:42 am

It was a huge Friday in the Philly sports world, and that doesn't count anything that actually happened on the field.

Philadelphia Phillies GM Ruben Amaro Jr. pulled off another great mid-summer deal sending prospects Jarred Cosart, Jonathan Singleton, Josh Zeid and a player to be named to the Houston Astros for All-Star Right Fielder Hunter Pence. This season Pence is hitting .309, with 11 HR, 62 RBI, .356 OBP, and .472 slugging. The right handed bat is a welcomed addition to... Read More

  by: iradiotom - Philadelphia, PA
started: 07/29/11 8:17 am | updated: 07/29/11 8:17 am

The Philadelphia Eagles are sending quarterback Kevin Kolb to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for pro bowl cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. Eagles coach Reid has already anointed Cromartie the starting right corner, an upgrade the Birds need and gives their defense the biggest boost since Asante Samuel arrived. But what did the Eagles lose? Does the loss of Kevin Kolb leave them too thin at the QB position? Word is, the Eagles have former Titans starter Vince Young in mind as... Read More

Lockout End Gets Eagles Back to the Nest

  by: iradiotom - Philadelphia, PA
started: 07/26/11 7:22 am | updated: 07/26/11 7:22 am

The NFL players and owners finally agreed to terms of a new deal that should keep football going uninterrupted for another 10 years. This is good news because Birds fans have been growing increasingly disgusted hearing about the business side of the game. Eagles fans resent both sides of an argument between millionaires and billionaires when it interferes with football. Hopefully the damage is minimal and the Eagles can get a lot done in just a few days. Training camp is shortened. The... Read More

Will the Phillies Win 100?

  by: iradiotom - Philadelphia, PA
started: 07/15/11 10:53 am | updated: 07/15/11 10:53 am

The Phillies are on pace to win over 100 games this season. But that's not their goal. The Phillies fans, players and managers believe that another World Series title is within reach. They have been able to win despite injuries and lackluster run production. However with the trade deadline approaching they have an opportunity to make the second half even better. Charlie Manuel would love to add a right handed slugger to bat 5th behind Ryan Howard.

Manuel has used seven... Read More

  by: iradiotom - Philadelphia, PA
started: 07/09/11 12:36 pm | updated: 07/09/11 12:36 pm

The Phillies head into the All Star break with the best record in baseball. Five Phillies were named All Stars, but it appears Polanco and Victorino will pass and use the time to recover from injuries. After pitching Sunday in the first half finale, Hamels may skip the All Star game as well. Despite a growing list of players on and off the disabled list, the Phillies are the best team in baseball. As this is shaping up to be the year of the pitcher, the Phillies investment in arms is paying... Read More

started: 07/05/11 2:28 pm | updated: 07/05/11 2:28 pm

With negotiations between the NFL owners and players heating up, business may reboot sometime within the next few weeks.

Many say The Eagles will be one of the teams that could pull off several moves only hours into the new league year. Here is their likely order of business once the trigger is pulled:

1. Figure out franchise and transition tags.
Almost no one around the league expects teams to have both the franchise and transition tags - as they did before... Read More

Season of Change for the 76ers

  by: iradiotom - Philadelphia, PA
started: 06/21/11 3:26 pm | updated: 06/24/11 8:22 am

The Philadelphia 76ers are a team poised to make quite a few changes. After changing coaches last season, Doug Collins has proved change can be very good. The Sixers are scheduled for picks number 16 and 50 in the draft, but that may change too. There is speculation the veteran lineup may change, possibly trading Andre Iguodala to move up in the draft. The 76ers want to add a big man and a shooter. And ownership may change very soon. Talk is intensifying that the Sixers are about to be... Read More
