Hilco Redevelopment Partners, which owns the the former site of Philadelphia Energy Solutions, has announced plans for the old South Philadelphia refinery. A Bronx, New York couple has been sentenced for their roles in an attack on a teenage Sesame Place employee in August 2020. 40-year-old Troy McCoy was sentenced to five to 10 years in state prison. He had been found guilty of aggravated assault and other charges. 32-year-old Shakerra Bonds was sentenced to four to 20 months in county jail. She had been found guilty of simple assault. SEPTA has released a guide in the event of a service interruption due to a strike by union transit workers. On Sunday, 10/24, the Transit Workers Union Local 234 unanimously voted to authorize a strike if a deal for a new contract could not be reached. The current contract expires on October 31. A strike could happen as early as Monday, 11/1. TWU Local 234 represents 5,000 workers. Both sides will continue to negotiate to reach a deal this week. The union is looking for better wages,... The largest worker's union for SEPTA voted on Sunday to authorize a strike vote. The Transport Worker Union Local 234 unanimously agreed to authorize a strike, but workers probably won't walk off the job until their contract expires at midnight October 31. This would affect bus, subway, and trolley service in the city. Thousands of school students rely on SEPTA to get to school. Police in Haverford Township are looking for several teenagers after they destroyed a family's front door in a seemingly random attack. It happened around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, on Gilmore Road. Three teens ran up to the home while a fourth stayed in the car. They threw a brick threw one glass panel and kicked in the other glass panel leaving the front door shattered. The teens then fled then scene. The homeowner heard the crash and called 911. A Philadelphia Police officer has been arrested for punching a man during a fight earlier this year. 45-year-old Officer Joseph Marion was arrested on Wednesday, 10/20, by Philadelphia Police Department's Internal Affairs Division.
