Chester County authorities are investigating after four members of the same family were found dead in their home in West Whiteland Township on Sunday afternoon. Police went to the home around 12:30 p.m. on the 100 block of Mountain View Drive after being asked to perform a welfare check by out-of-state relatives. They were found dead in the basement. Police believe it was a murder-suicide. They have been identified as 50-year-old Deepak Prabakhar Kulkarni, 47-year-old Arti Madhusudan Ayda, 15-year-old Shubham Deepak Kulkarni, and 8-year-old Sharvil Deepak Kulkarni. Deepak worked as a software analyst and Arti had worked as an app developer. The boy's attended Collegium Charter School.

"The initial investigation and evidence at the scene indicate that this incident is the result of a murder-suicide and that there is no threat to the community at large. This incident is currently being actively investigated and no further details will be released at this time," said the West Whiteland Township Police Department in a news release. The investigation is ongoing.

A 6-year-old boy has been found safe and his father is now in custody in New Jersey on Monday, 1/25, after they went missing following a fire at their Cheltenham, Montgomery County, home on Sunday, 1/24. 6-year-old Isaac Hwang was reported missing when his mother arrived to picked him up at his father's house on the 1400 block of Clements Road in the Wyncote neighborhood on Sunday. She discovered that the house had been destroyed in a fire. Cheltenham Police say that the fire was intentionally set. It had started around 5 a.m. in the fireplace with the furniture placed close enough to catch fire. 35-year-old Jaemyung Hwang took his son with him in his 2021 BMW X5. Authorities were able to track Hwang through his car's GPS to Cherry Hill, NJ, where he was arrested with another identified man. He's facing charges of False Imprisonment, Interference with the Custody of Children, and Concealing the Whereabouts of a Child. The arson is still being investigated. The boy was being evaluated at Cooper University Hospital before being reunited with his mother.

An teen was shot and critically injured on a subway platform in Center City on Sunday night, 1/24, during an attempted robbery. It happened just after 8 p.m. at the City Hall station of the Broad Street Hall near 15th and Market Streets. An 18-year-old man was shot twice in the buttocks and groin while on the SEPTA platform. The shooter left the gun and fled. The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
