A senior football player at La Salle College High School collapsed and died after practice on Friday afternoon, 9/4, at the all-boys Catholic Wyndmoor, Montgomery County school. 17-year-old Isaiah Turner was a 6-foot-5, 300-pound offensive guard who also played on the basketball team. He has been described as a "gentle giant" who was loved by all at the school. Turner was from the Frankford section of Philadelphia.

After practice on Friday, he complained of "a pain or a cramp" in his leg and asked a teammate to bring a car down to the field to pick him up. By the time the teammate returned, Turner had collapsed. He was rushed to Chestnut Hill Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The cause of death is not yet known, but it was not corovavirus COVID-19 related. A memorial was held at the Lourdes Grotto on school grounds on Saturday, 9/5. It was attended by family, teammates, coaches, faculty, and others in the school community.

La Salle started this school year already with a hybrid model. The football team has been holding practices/workouts throughout the summer. The team is trying to put together a fall schedule of games after the Catholic League was canceled.
