There is now a $35,000 reward for information leading to the girl's whereabouts or identification of the suspect in the disappearance of a 5-year-old girl in South Jersey. The search is now in its fifth day. Dulce Maria Alavez vanished from the Bridgeton City Park in Bridgeton, Cumberland County, sometime before 5 p.m. on Monday, 9/16. She was last seen on the playground with her 3-year-old brother. Her mother, 19-year-old Noema Alavez Perez, was nearby at their car with an 8-year-old relative. An Amber Alert was issued on Tuesday night, 9/17. Extensive searches of the park have been done by authorities and community volunteers. Police believe she may have been abducted by a light-skinned, possibly Hispanic male, roughly 5-foot 6-inches tall. He was wearing orange sneakers, red pants and a black shirt. He was driving a red minivan with a sliding door and tinted windows. Dulce was last seen wearing a yellow shirt with an elephant, black and white pants, and white shoes. Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae said they are willing to expand beyond that theory. Anyone with information on her whereabouts should call the Bridgeton Police Department at 856-451-0033.

UPDATE: The reward is now $35,000. It started at $20,000 on Thursday and has risen several times.

A homeowner's three pit bulls help fight off intruders after the resident was shot during a home invasion in North Philadelphia on Thursday night, 9/19. It happened around 8:45 p.m. on the 2600 block of North Reese Street. Two robbers forced their way into the home but were met by the 30-year-old man and his three dogs. A struggle ensued. One of the suspects shot the homeowner in the leg and fled. The other suspect, a 43-year-old man, was attacked by the dogs and taken into custody when police arrived. He was hospitalized and treated for dog bites to the legs. The gunshot victim was taken to Temple University Hospital and is in stable condition. The other suspect remains at large.

Maple Shade police are investigating after a family's pet poodle-Pomeranian mix had to be put down after being found shot in the head. 72-year-old Bob Cook says that his 7 lb poodle, Toby, snuck out of the yard under the fence on Tuesday, 9/17. Neighbors say the dog frequently gets out and just goes on the same daily walking routine that Cooks usually takes him. They found him screeching in pain sometime 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on the 800 block of Greenwood Avenue nearby their home. The family rushed him to the veterinarian thinking the dog had been hit by car, but the doctor found a bullet in the back of his head. They had to euthanize him the next day and notified the police. Maple Shade police have launched an animal cruelty investigation and the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office is assisting. Anyone with information should call police at 856-234-8300. There is a GoFundMe for Toby's medical expenses. Cook is a Vietnam veteran and Toby was part therapy dog.

UPDATE: Police have arrested 64-year-old William Stroemel and charged him with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, animal cruelty and other related offenses in connection to the shooting. He is also known as "Wild Willie."
