A Winter Storm Warning is now in effect for the entire Philadelphia area from 3 p.m. Sunday to 7 a.m. Monday. We can expect several inches of heavy, wet snow across the region. Rain or Snow will start to fall from SW to NE in the mid afternoon Sunday. It will be all snow N and W totaling 6-8 inches. The city and immediate suburbs could see a little mixing and totals between 4-7 inches. South Jersey and Delaware could see 2-4 inches with a change over to rain. Snow fall rates could reach 1 inch/hour this evening making travel difficult. Be careful when shoveling, the snow will be heavy. For more information go to: http://www.weather.gov/phi/winter

** Philadelphia Archdiocesan and Parochial schools will be closed on Monday, May 4th. No word on Philadelphia Public Schools. For a full list of school closings visit: KYW School Closings

Governor Phil Murphy has declared a State of Emergency for New Jersey ahead of the storm. More information can be found at: http://ready.nj.gov. Dozens of PA townships in Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery Counties have declared snow emergencies. Make sure to move your vehicles from any posted snow emergency routes. Check with your local municipality for specific routes and if they've declared an emergency. PennDOT has issued restrictions on interstates in highways effective at 3 p.m. There is a full ban on commercial vehicles on some highways and a limited ban on others. Most are north and west of the Philadelphia area. See https://www.511pa.com/ for details. Amtrak has made cancellations due to the impending storm. Keystone Service Trains and Pennsylvanian Trains have been cancelled for Sunday and Monday. Northeast Corridor service will operate as usual. You can check your train's status at Amtrak.com.
