Search For N. Phila Gunman; Senate Passes Real ID Act Bill To House; DA William's Attorney Drops Out

Police are now searching for a suspected gunman who still remains at large after a barricade situation ended in North Philadelphia. Police and a SWAT team arrived at 17th and Susquehanna Avenue at around 4 pm on Tuesday after a 17-year-old boy was shot by a man in the right hip. The boy was taken to Temple University Hospital where he is currently listed in critical condition. The police called off the barricade situation at around 6:30 pm, Police recovered a handgun after searching around the area for the suspect.

The Pennsylvania State Senate has now sent in a bill to the House looking for relief from the deadline of the federal "Real ID" program to repeal the law that forbids state participation in the program. Pennsylvania has a June 6th deadline to comply with the "Real ID" act. An expert told Senators last month that failure to comply with this law could affect nearly 100,000 Pennsylvanians in ways such as access to their workplace and not being able to use their license to fly. The expert also told senators that it is unlikely the House will give them another extension, but they expect to hear a response very soon.

District Attorney Seth William's attorney has now dropped out of his case, and Williams is in search of a new one. William's Lawyer Michael Diamondstein stated that he could not keep representing Williams for free especially with the amount of evidence that is up against Williams. Williams has since declined to apply for a court appointed attorney, and stated that he will have proper representation by Friday.
