Arrest in 2015 Port Richmond Murder; Cheating in PA State Police Academy; Crash in Clifton Heights

Philadelphia police have made an arrest in the 2015 murder of a Port Richmond woman. 28-year-old James Jones is charged with criminal homicide, burglary, robbery and a list of related offenses. It happened on July 30, 2015 on the 3000 block of Aramingo Ave. Police found 22-year-old Stephanie Dzikowski shot to death in a second floor bedroom. Her 2-year-old daughter was in the room with her. Surveillance video helped polce identify Jones. Jones was already in jail on an unrelated offense.

A months-long probe by the Office of the Inspector General found evidence of cadet cheating, training problems and instructor misconduct at the Pennsylvania State Police Academy. The 47-page report stated the academy had “created an environment that allowed cheating to occur because instructors provided cadets with answers to test questions and did not often change the content of tests.” The scandal was first made public a year ago. One of the improvements recommended includes the use of a computerized testing system that produces randomized questions for tests. That way cadets could not pass along tests and answers between class years and instructors would not be able to provide advance notice of test questions.

An automobile crash this afternoon ended with a SUV in the front yard of a Delaware County home. It happened around 12:30 p.m. on unit block of West Broadway Avenue in Clifton Heights. The driver swerved, jumped the curb, and hit the front porch of the home. At least one person was hurt. Police are trying to determine what caused the crash. See photo below.
