Police are searching for three woman who threw hot coffee on Wawa employees in Upper Darby last night. It happened around 11:30 pm in the store at 460 South 69th St. One of the women filled a 24 oz coffee and threw the liquid in the faces of three employees working in the deli area. Then the three women left the store laughing. The Wawa employees were hit in the face, neck, and upper body. They were treated by medics at the scene. These women have been at the store before causing trouble. Anyone with information is asked to call Upper Darby Police.

UPDATE: Upper Darby police announced late Friday afternoon that they arrested two women in connection to the coffee throwing incident at the 69th Street Wawa.

Philadelphia Zoo officials announced that Zenda, a 25-year-old female African lion, died on Thursday, December 29th. Zenda was believed to be the oldest lion in the United States. Typically zoo lions live about 17 years. Zenda was born in the Johannesburg Zoo in South Africa in July 1991 and came to Philadelphia in 1993. Philly's lions were temporarily relocated to Columbus in 2004 and returned in 2006 for the opening of the Big Cat Falls exhibit and Zoo-wide trail system. There are six other lions still at zoo. Makini, a 7-year-old male; Tajiri, a 6-year-old female; and their four female cubs born in June 2014, Kataba, Mali, Msinga and Sabi. Zenda was euthanized because she had experienced an acute decline in her mobility and behavior.

A former Main Line elected official has been arrested for the indecent assault of a 103-year-old woman. Former Radnor Township Commissioner William Spingler is charged with three counts of indecent assault on a person with a mental disability. There were three separate incidents observed by nursing staff at the Wayne Center nursing home on West Ave. over the past several weeks. The victim suffers from dementia and other physical ailments and could not defend herself. An employee saw "a blanket pulled up to her shoulders and witnessed Spingler using his right hand under the blanket to massage her chest area in an inappropriate way not to be mistaken for any assistance of any kind." The first two times he left the facility as soon as he noticed an employee watching. He was arrested on the third occasion last week. He was released on $10,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 5th. The 75-year-old Spingler of Paoli knew the woman from a previous marriage. He is well known in the community. He was first elected to the Radnor Board of Commissioners in 1969 and retired as the president in 2015.

This afternoon, mix of sun and clouds, windy, maybe a flurry, temperatures in the mid 40's in Center City.
