A Pennsylvania mother pled guilty today to throwing her 20-month-old son off a bridge and into a river. 21-year-old Johnesha Perry told the Lehigh County Judge, "I dropped him, yes, because I wanted to die with him and go to heaven." Judge Kelly Banach sentenced Perry to 20 to 40 years in state prison on the third-degree murder charge. In May 2015, Perry gave her son Zymiera a kiss before throwing him off the Hamilton Street Bridge and into the Lehigh River 50 feet below. She then jumped herself. Perry survived with a broken arm. Zymiera was pulled from the river and died six days later. She has a long history of abuse and neglect going back to her own childhood as well as a history of mental illness.

The man accused of shooting a Delaware County police officer seven times this past summer will be held for trial. 34-year-old Donte Brooks Island, aka Abdul Wahi, of Upper Darby is charged with 14 counts of attempted murder, aggravated assault, and related charges. He is accused of shooting part-time Folcroft Police Officer Christopher Dorman while he was responding to the report of drug activity on June 24, 2016. Island fired seven times with a .40 caliber handgun. Dorman was hit in the face, leg, chest, and groin. He survived the shooting and returned to the job in September.

A woman stole the baby Jesus from a Nativity scene in Bethlehem, PA, and dropped the statue off at the hospital with a note saying the baby had been 'neglected' by its parents, "Joseph and Mary Christ." 49-year-old Jacqueline Ross was identified from surveillance video and arrested on charges of theft and institutional vandalism. She told police it was just a joke. Ross stole the baby early in the morning on December 4th from Payrow Plaza and then took the figurine to the hospital. The note read, "Child has broken right foot which is been (sic) neglected. Parents Joseph and Mary Christ got a warning." The porcelain statue is worth $2,700.
