Police have stated that a 10-year-old boy has been killed in a house fire that broke out in the Cobbs Creek section of Philadelphia on Friday. The fire broke out on the 1200 block of South Millick Street at around 4 am. Firefighters arrived on scene to heavy smoke pouring out of the second floor window. The fire spread to three of the neighboring homes. Firefighters did their best to save the boy, but were not able to reach him due to the vast flames. The boy's father had to be rushed to the hospital with 60% of his body covered in burns. He is listed in serious condition. The Red Cross is assisting families that were affected by the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Three suspects are now in custody, one of them firing shots at a Philly Police officer in the Feltonville section of Philadelphia. The shooting took place on the 100 block of East Roosevelt Boulevard at around 1:30 am. Police stated they were searching for three suspects who were wanted for robbing a 21-year-old man. Police got a report of the suspects in a pickup truck, and were able to locate the suspects on Rising Sun and Roosevelt Boulevard. The suspects took off on foot down an alley way and that's when one of the suspects fired a shot at the officer. The men were later arrested and are being charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault against a police officer.

A New Jersey contractor is now facing serious charges after he scammed individuals who had their homes damaged in Hurricane Sandy. 41-year-old Jamie Lawson, who is the owner of Lawson Renovations and J&C Construction, has been charged with money laundering, theft by failure to make required disposition, and tampering with public records and related charges. Lawson took payments from 14 homeowners in New Jersey, and either did none of the work promised, or less that what was agreed to. Officials stated that the money went toward vehicles and Lawson's personal expenses.
