New Jersey Governor Chris Christie faces a citizen's complaint of official misconduct in the case of lane closures to the George Washingon Bridge in Fort Lee, NJ in September 2013. A judge signed the summons on Thursday and it is now in the hands of the Bergen County prosecutor's office who will determine if it leads to an indictment. Official misconduct in the state of New Jersey is a second-degree offense with a possible sentence of five to ten years. The complaint was filed by retired Teaneck firefighter William Brennan. In the complaint he claimed, "Christie knowingly refrained from ordering that his subordinates take all necessary action to re-open local access lanes to the George Washington Bridge." He also called it an "evil minded act taken by public officials acting on the authority vested in them by the office of Governor of the state of New Jersey." Christie's spokesman said, "This is a dishonorable complaint filed by a known serial complainant and political activist with a history of abusing the judicial system. The simple fact is the Governor had no knowledge of the lane realignments either before they happened or while they were happening. This matter has already been thoroughly investigated by three separate independent investigations. The ruling is being appealed immediately." An initial court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 24.

Ivanka Trump, daughter of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, is in our area today campaigning for her father. She is making three stops in the Philadelphia suburbs this afternoon holding holding several "Coffee with Ivanka" events. The first event was at Drexelbrook in Drexel Hill, Delaware County. She then spoke at Spring Hill Manor in Ivyland, Bucks County. The final event will be a fundraising dinner at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in King of Prussia tonight. Vice Presidential nominee Mike Pence will be in the Lehigh Valley tonight making several stops.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike announced that it can now accept credit cards as a payment option in the cash lanes of all its toll booths. EZ-Pass and cash are still the preferred payment methods, but if you do not have either, toll collectors will be able to process your card. The Turnpike Commission said they began installing and testing the machines last month. The system is now running across the state. Previously, if you were short on cash you would would fill out a certificate of passage and mail the toll in later. Now, you can pay with the card as a backup. All major cards are accepted.
