280+ Dead in Haiti, City Pulling Trolley Tracks Up, Police Look for Sexual Assault Suspect

After the destruction and devastation that Hurricane Matthew caused in Haiti, it has now left over 280 people dead on the Caribbean island. The category 4 hurricane ripped through the island, damaging more than 28,000 homes, forcing citizens people to move into shelters. UN groups are standing by to assist those in need as more than 350,000 people need immediate assistance because the flood took away most of the food that was in the houses. The U.S. military stated it is sending helicopters and 100 personnel to help assist in relief efforts.

The Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia is starting to petition to get the rest of the unused trolley tracks that run through the city removed. Removing the tracks will open up more area for riding and easier commutes for Philadelphia's bikers. The trolley has not been in service since it was suspended in 1923, and the tracks span from South Philly all the way to Chestnut Hill. Though the city is working on pulling up the tracks, it is going to be delayed because the trolley track streets are up for repaving.

Police are on the lookout for a man who they say has been slashing and choking women after sexually assaulting them in the Kensington section of Philadelphia. Last month he held a knife to his victim's face on the 3100 block of Stouton Street, and has choked another victim this past Saturday on the 2700 block of Ruth Street. The suspect also attacked another victim in July. Authorities have sent out surveillance images of the man who is said to have struck a fourth and fifth time.

Weather
