13-year-old Girl Behind Philly Scary Clown Threats; Creato Murder Trial Delayed; PPA Will Be Audited

Philadelphia Police say that a 13-year-old girl was behind the 'scary clown' threats to local high schools posted on social media over the weekend. Investigators say that the teen and a friend did it as a prank and never intended to harm anyone. The posts appeared across several Instagram accounts (clown_of_philly, phillyclown215, philly_clowns215, clownsofphilly, etc.) They threatened to shoot, kidnap, and otherwise harm students at several public and private schools around Philadelphia this week. The School District of Philadelphia's Office of School Safety along with Philadelphia Police and the Department of Homeland Security investigated the threats and tracked down the source. The case has now been sent to the District Attorney's office.

UPDATE: Two teens in New Jersey have been arrested in connection to online "scary clown" threats over the weekend. Washington Township Police Department say that a 13-year-old girl from Bunker Hill Middle School and a 14-year-old boy from Orchard Valley Middle School posted threatening messages on social media. The girl's messages targeted specific Washington Township schools and students while the boy's were more general. Police don't know if the two knew each other. They were both charged with one count of cyber harassment. This incident is in addition to the investigation into another 13-year-old girl's online threats in Philadelphia

A Camden County judge has delayed the murder trial of a father accused of killing his 3-year-old son. The trial of David 'DJ' Creato Jr. was scheduled to start today, but the judge agreed to postpone it until January 9th at the request of the defense. Creato's lawyers are waiting on a report from their own expert forensic medical examiner. 23-year-old Creato is on trial for allegedly killing his son Brendan. He reported his son missing from his Haddon Township, NJ home around dawn on October 13th of last year. The boy's body was found a few blocks away in the woods just a few hours later. Creato remains in jail on $750,000 bail.

The Pennsylvania Auditor General says that he will begin an immediate limited audit of the Philadelphia Parking Authority after the recent sexual harrassment scandal involving former head Vince Fenerty. Auditor General Eugene DePasquale will be performing a "limited performance audit" on the authority's sexual harrassment rules and procedures. There have been questions about how recent sexual allegations from 2015 against Fenerty were handled, especially when similar allegations from ten years ago came to light. Fenerty resigned last week from the PPA before the board voted to fire him.
