Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane announced today that she will resign from office at the end of the day tomorrow Wednesday, August 17th. Kane was found guilty yesterday on all nine counts in her perjury and obstruction trial held in Montgomery County. Kane conspired to leak grand jury information to the press out of revenge against former investigators. She then lied about it in front of another grand jury investigating the leak. She faces up to 7 years in prison. Currently she is out on bail and plans to appeal. Kane said, "I have been honored to serve the people of Pennsylvania and I wish them health and safety in all their days." Governor Tom Wolf said in a statement, "Her decision to resign is the right one, and will allow the people of Pennsylvania to finally move on from this situation." Pennsylvania Solicitor General Bruce Castor will take over the role of Attorney General until either Gov. Wolf appoints a temporary AG or the newly elected AG is sworn in in January.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie signed a law today that prohibits the investment of state funds in private companies that boycott the state of Israel. The bipartisan legislation is a rejection of the "BDS movement" or "boycott, divestment, and sanctions" carried on by Palestine and other nations to hurt Israel. Specifically, the law prohibits the Treasury Department from investing public employee pension and annuity funds in any company that boycotts Israeli goods, products or businesses. The department will have two years to sell, redeem, or divest any current investments that are in conflict.

Aetna Inc. has decided to pull out of 11 of the 15 state healthcare exchanges it currently operates in 2017, including Pennsylvania. The insurance company will only participate in Obamacare in Delaware, Iowa, Nebraska and Virginia going forward. The company stated that it has lost $430 million on individual policies since the exchanges opened in January 2014. "Providing affordable, high-quality health care options to consumers is not possible without a balanced risk pool," said Aetna CEO Mark Bertolini. The company will still offer individual plans outside of the exchanges but they will not be eligible for subsidies.
